We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Account Manager - UK Government Business to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Senior Account Manager - UK Government Business, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Your world of expertise
The UK Government Business team sits within the Markets Directorate and collectively manages customer and stakeholder relationships. Our purpose is to deliver funding and support the delivery of contracts for key climate, weather and technology programmes. We ensure that the Met Office is aligned with Government priorities and follows relevant policies, guidance and objectives. With a wide-range of skills and experience, the team support colleagues across the Met Office with a variety of issues relating to funding opportunities, management of key government accounts and alignment with policymaking priorities.
You will support the successful delivery of services to UK Government Business strategic customers. This will require working closely with the UK RI and EU Manager. The role holder will champion internal business management systems, act as an expert on Account Management practices and work independently to promote best practices within the team.
Your key duties
- Supporting the UKRI and EU Manager to liaise with UK and European government departments / agencies, delivering account management tasks.
- Maintain relevant customer records on Dynamics in accordance with sales order process. Drive improvements across the Government Business Team by championing change and the use of new and existing processes and systems (e.g Dynamics and ITBM).
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, making use of finance tools and systems to track and monitor delivery against strategic accounts

As our Senior Account Manager - UK Government Business, your total reward package will be up to £57,639 annually, which includes:
- £41,725 base pay
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted, confident, and valued working relationships with important stakeholders and relevant colleagues because we are better together.
- The role holder should live and breathe it with a proven track record of taking ownership and responsibility for key activities and ensuring successful outcomes to a given timeline.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) demonstrating they are capable of being an expert by nature with an ability to communicate complex information.
- Strong planning and organisation skills with the ability to keep evolving and adjust priorities to meet changing demands while managing customer expectations.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and driven individual, who as a force for good is able to take ownership and work on own initiative to deliver successful outcomes in a timely manner.
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders including government departments.
