We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Marketing Manager - Industry & Government to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Senior Marketing Manager - Industry & Government , the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share.  Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.

Your world of expertise

The Senior Marketing Manager post is key in helping the Met Office achieve its future strategic ambitions. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and developing compelling value propositions across Government and Industry, including Climate Services. You will coordinate the activities of Marketing Managers to achieve ambitious business, marketing and Government plans. 

Your key duties

  • Marketing Lead for industry
  • Marketing management and strategy development for all industry sectors as outlined in the Industry engagement strategy
  • Lead on the creation and delivery of industry marketing deliverables
  • Strategic lead and task management for industry marketing team members, understanding how products and services can apply across industry sectors
  • Work with other Senior Marketing Managers to drive a consistent approach
  • Work with Heads of Relationships and Business Managers to agree marketing resource for sectors and help establish an effective integrated market facing approach
  • Work with Senior Product Managers on creation and retention of suitable products for industry

As our Senior Marketing Manager - Industry & Government, your total reward package will be up to £72,530 annually, which includes:

  • £52,799 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
  • Relocation Assistance may be available
  • Whilst this is a temporary position until March 2025, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  1. Keep Evolving – Proven ability to lead on the development and successful delivery of business or marketing plans, preferably at a strategic level, e.g. across business units, sectors or markets.
  2. Better together – Proven ability to show leadership across a team, helping to develop individuals even if you're not the direct Line Manager. 
  3. Expert by nature – Experience of using marketing tools and skills to understand how your organisation creates and delivers value to the customer – with evidence of embedding this understanding into plans and strategies.
  4. Force for good – Proven experience in managing multiple high priority work activities at the same time, and maintaining enthusiasm and motivation.
  5. Live and breathe it – An excellent communicator adept at tailoring complex scientific, or technical, information in a way that can be clearly understood by a non-specialist user or audience.
  6. Live and breathe it  Knowledge of GDPR and/or PECR legislation and an understanding of the potential risks posed.
