We’re looking for an exceptional IT Service Continuity Analyst to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our IT Service Continuity Analyst, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise

You will play an important role in supporting our overall Business Continuity by ensuring that IT Services continue to run, or can be recovered to planned timescales, in the event of a disruption. You will continually develop the IT Service Continuity Management process ensuring that it is fit for the future as the Met Office transforms its organisation and IT infrastructure.

Your key duties

  • Provide advice and guidance to IT support teams and projects to enable them to design, build and test appropriate resilience and recovery features for IT Services, and to other stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to continual development of the IT Service Continuity Management process, including Business Impact Assessment and Risk Management.
  • Develop and maintain IT Service Continuity Management process documentation and ensure that procedures are in place to keep it fit for purpose into the future.
  • Design and produce management reports to demonstrate capability against key metrics.
  • Design and deliver training and awareness sessions.
  • Review IT Service Continuity Plans, exercise plans, and post exercise reports and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Plan and facilitate IT Service Continuity exercises and tests, and monitor resulting improvement actions.
  • Contribute to configuration, testing, documentation, and support of Met Office Business Continuity and Resilience software.

As our IT Service Continuity Analyst, your total reward package will be up to £62,939 annually, which includes:

  • £41,725 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
  • In addition you will be paid £3,600 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2024 until September 2025 in your monthly pay
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  1. An understanding of business continuity principles and practices
  2. Knowledge of current IT resilience and recovery technologies and services
  3. Focussed on delivering a quality service to stakeholders
  4. Broad understanding of service management processes
  5. Experience of process design and improvement
  6. Ability to create clear documentation to communicate information to a range of audiences
