Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Senior Product Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
As a Senior Product Manager joining our Product Delivery Team, you will have responsibility for Post Processing and Analysis (PP&A) products and developments. These products and developments are a critical part of the Met Office data pipeline, delivering essential weather forecast data to a range of end users including Operational Meteorologists, key customers and end users including Defence and Data Provisioning customers.
The products and services enable our users to consume and interrogate supercomputer data in a way which meets their needs and enables them to exploit ever growing datasets to ultimately help them make better decisions so that citizens stay safe and thrive. Our Senior Product Manager role is within the Government Digital and Data (GDaD) profession, adopted by the Met Office as guidance to ways of working to ensure our public digital services meet government standards.
Your key duties:
• Manage and lifecycle Met Office data products, such as PP&A products, maximising the value to internal data supply consumers and external customers and users by enabling coordinated developments via projects and programmes.
• Oversee prioritisation of data product developments and roadmaps across multiple development and science teams, ensuring that there is optimum coordination and planning in place to generate effective working practices and efficiencies.
• Work across directorates with markets, services and technology teams to ensure the data products and services deliver to customer and user needs and facilitate effective pull through of supercomputing benefits.
• Understand and manage internal dependencies on other data supply teams, such as Service Hub, alongside Data Management, and Data Products teams
• Lead and line manage a team of product managers working on data product requirements
• Work collaboratively in a team of Senior Product Managers, especially within Data Supply and Data Products

As our Senior Product Manager, your total reward package will be up to £73,518 annually, which includes:
• £52,799 base pay.
• An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
• Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
1. You keep evolving with experience leading and delivering within Agile product and development teams, and practical experience of product development and life-cycle management processes.
2. Proven ability to think strategically and beyond the boundaries of immediate responsibilities.
3. You work better together using collaborative leadership skills to successfully motivate and manage multi-faceted teams to deliver on challenging priorities.
4. You live and breathe it by combining your user/customer focus, building trusted relationships and using that to improve products or services, whilst recognising changing needs over time.
5. Excellent communication skills with an ability to command an audience, effectively influence and negotiate with senior management.
6. An expert by nature with demonstrable knowledge of environmental data products and datasets, post processing and production systems and how they provide business value to different Products and Services teams.
