Job Introduction
We’re looking for an International Stakeholder Coordinator to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our International Stakeholder Coordinator the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
Our International Engagement Team collaborates with global partners to deliver enhanced weather and climate information which helps people to stay safe and thrive, in line with UK Government policy. Our activities are global and span Africa, MENA (Middle East and North Africa), South America and Asia Pacific with projects which combine a mix of capacity development, training, scientific consultancy, technical assistance and partnerships. We build long-lasting equitable partnerships to improve the use and uptake of co-produced weather and climate information.
As our International Stakeholder Coordinator, you'll identify opportunities to develop sustainable funding streams for these activities while undertaking successful delivery of complex projects or programmes that meet the needs of users and stakeholders. Using effective stakeholder management and account planning across a range of stakeholders, you'll bring together user and stakeholder needs with the skills and capabilities of the Met Office, contributing to the development of the Met Office International offer in the future.
You will contribute towards International Engagement team priorities through supporting effective stakeholder management with regards to our delivery partner role. You'll be required to attend the International Engagement Teams monthly team meetings in Exeter HQ, and to travel internationally including to developing countries.
Your key duties:
- Coordinate engagement with prioritised stakeholders to ensure consistency of approach to maximise the value of these relationships and the Met Office’s International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF) activities.
- Work with Met Office teams to ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Developing and maintaining equitable partnerships with local and national stakeholder communities.
- Supporting the International Engagement Team in the preparation for relevant international meetings, visits, briefings and progressing of opportunities.
- Supporting business improvement activities within the International Engagement team, including adoption of business process, systems and reporting, and representation on relevant Met Office groups as appropriate.

As our International Stakeholder Coordinator, your total reward package will be up to £47,606 annually, which includes:
- £33,794 base pay.
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
- Better together: ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships, with evidence of creating trust and rapport.
- Force for good: self-motivated, driven, customer-oriented individual who is able to work independently, but also as part of a team.
- Expert by nature: evidence of successfully delivering projects, including project resources, risks, benefits and finances, as well as evidence of working on project delivery in an international context.
- Live and breathe it: demonstrable business development capability in the International Development sector, including the ability to understand a customer’s challenges and needs, and to identify where weather and climate services can add value.
- Expert by nature: excellent communication (oral and written), including influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to produce compelling bids and proposals.
- Live and breathe it: willingness to travel to developing countries, with a strong understanding of working overseas and in different cultural settings.
Desirable Criteria:
