Job Introduction

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager to help us make a difference to our planet. 

As our Marketing Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. 

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, based in Exeter.

Your world of expertise 

As a Marketing Manager within the Marketing and Insights team, you'll be involved in helping to continuously evolve the public weather service for all citizens of the United Kingdom. 

You will be part of the team acting as the voice of the customer, employing marketing activities and skills to frame our offering and position within the market. You will constantly improve the information, expertise and the way it is shared, with the public, responders and partners to help people stay safe and thrive.

Your key duties:

  • Work across a range of market leading products and services for the Met Office.
  • Stay up to speed on latest consumer and market trends and use insight to inform marketing decision making and strategies.
  • Manage the full marketing mix with opportunities work on all marketing disciplines, such as business planning, product development, marketing communications, market and customer intelligence and proposition development.
  • Work with cross-office teams to develop value propositions that meet the needs of customers and users. 
  • Drive customer and user preference through the use of effective marketing tools and techniques.

As our Marketing Manager, your total reward package will be up to £47,606 annually, which includes: 

  • £33,794 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience: 

  1. You're an expert by nature with detailed knowledge and practical experience of the marketing planning process across the full marketing mix, both at a strategic and tactical level.
  2. You're able to develop and describe customer benefits of complex information and translate these into Unique Selling Points for customers.
  3. You have a proven ability to use a range of market research and analytics tools to develop customer insight.
  4. You live and breathe it with a demonstrable track-record of supporting the integration of marketing plans (with associated sales, business or corporate plans).
  5. You have experience of working better together as part of a high performing marketing team.
  6. You keep evolving with a business or marketing qualification, or willingness to work for a CIM qualification.
